Privacy Policy
Rune is a calm vocabulary app. We collect as little as the app needs to work, we don't run ads, and we never sell your data. This page explains, in plain language, what is collected and why.
What we collect
- Account (optional). Rune works fully without an account. If you sign in with Google or Apple, we receive your name and email address from that provider to identify your account. Signing in exists only to back up and sync your learning across devices.
- Learning progress. Your review history, word schedule, deck enrollments, and settings are stored on your device. When you are signed in, a copy syncs to our servers (Google Firebase, hosted by Google) so your progress follows you to a new device. We never see the content of anything you didn't study — there is nothing to see beyond words and ratings.
- Usage analytics. We use Yandex AppMetrica to understand aggregate behaviour — for example, how many people finish their daily review. Events are behavioural only (e.g. "review completed"), tied to a device identifier, never to the words you study individually and never to your name or email.
- Purchases. Subscriptions are processed by Apple's App Store or Google Play and managed through RevenueCat. We receive subscription status (active / expired), never your payment details.
- Crash reports. If the app crashes, a technical report (device model, OS version, stack trace) is sent so we can fix it. Crash reports contain no learning content.
What we don't do
- No advertising, and no advertising identifiers.
- No selling or renting personal data — to anyone, ever.
- No reading of your contacts, photos, location, or anything else the app doesn't need. Rune asks only for notification permission, and only if you turn reminders on.
Where data lives
On your device first — Rune is offline-first. Synced data is stored in Google Firebase (Firestore) under your account identifier. Analytics data is processed by Yandex AppMetrica. Subscription records are processed by RevenueCat. Each of these providers processes data on our behalf under their own security and privacy commitments.
Deleting your data
You can delete your account and every piece of synced data at any time from inside the app: Settings → Account → Delete account. Deletion removes your synced learning data and your account record permanently. Data stored only on your device is removed by uninstalling the app.
Children
Rune is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.
Changes
If this policy changes materially, we will update this page and note the new effective date above.
