Terms of Service
These terms govern your use of the Rune app. By using Rune you agree to them. They're short on purpose — please actually read them.
The service
Rune is a vocabulary-learning app: curated word decks, spaced-repetition review, progress tracking, and optional cross-device sync. The free tier is genuinely usable; a paid subscription (Rune Plus) unlocks additional volume and depth.
Subscriptions
- Rune Plus is a recurring subscription (annual or monthly) purchased through Apple's App Store or Google Play, and billed by them — we never see your payment details.
- If a free trial is offered, it converts to a paid subscription unless cancelled before the trial ends. Where you've allowed it, we send a reminder before your trial converts — we'd rather remind you than surprise you.
- Subscriptions renew automatically until cancelled. Cancel any time in your App Store or Google Play subscription settings; access continues to the end of the paid period.
- If your subscription ends, you keep your learning history and the free tier — we never delete your progress because you stopped paying.
- Refunds are handled by Apple and Google under their store policies.
Your account and data
- Signing in is optional; it enables backup and sync. You are responsible for the security of the Google or Apple account you sign in with.
- You can delete your account and synced data in the app at any time (Settings → Account → Delete account).
- Our handling of personal data is described in the Privacy Policy.
Acceptable use
Don't abuse the service: no attempting to breach security, scrape or redistribute the content library, reverse-engineer paid features, or use the app in a way that breaks the law. We may suspend accounts that do.
Content
The app's word decks, definitions, and design are owned by us or our licensors. Third-party materials are credited in the app's Sources & licenses screen. Your learning data is yours.
Disclaimers
Rune is provided "as is". We work hard to keep it reliable and your data safe, but we can't promise uninterrupted service. To the maximum extent the law allows, our liability is limited to the amount you paid for the service in the last 12 months.
Changes
We may update these terms; material changes will be noted here with a new effective date. Continuing to use Rune after a change means you accept the updated terms.
